Ivy Ekuku

Briefly explain your most recent educational background and any work (paid or voluntary) you were doing before you began your Fellowship?

I completed my LLM (Legal Practice) Solicitors MA with BPP University in 2020 and I was working with a small Immigration firm as a Paralegal before I began my fellowship.

Why did you want to apply for a Justice First Fellowship?

I applied for Justice First Fellowship to not only fulfill my aspirations of becoming a qualified solicitor but also have a positive impact on my community by offering advice and advocacy to individuals who need it the most.

Complete the following sentence: ‘Outside of my legal interests, I enjoy…’

Outside of my legal interests, I enjoy travelling around the world to explore new cultures. I hope to visit, Tokyo and Bali this year. I also enjoy acting and was part of the 2004 National Theatre Production of the Tempest in Waterloo. Acting has boosted my confidence and perfected my public communication skills. When I am not travelling or acting, I like to raise funds for my local church by planning social events to help the local community.
