Starting Salary and Hours	£30,000-£31,000 p.a. and 37.5 hours per week
Organisational Benefits	- 25 days annual leave, plus Bank Holidays and three additional days off over the Christmas period - You will also accrue one additional day for each completed holiday year of service up to a maximum of five additional days

What can a trainee expect by training at your organisation?

A unique opportunity in a specialist field, working on novel, high profile strategic litigation that is not done elsewhere.
The trainee will have seats with three of our solicitors. Two seats will involve contentious litigation, including civil claims against public authorities and public law. The third will be a non-contentious seat. This will include assisting with delivering training to frontline services on legal remedies for victims of domestic and/or sexual violence they assist.
All seats will include opportunities to learn and undertake the full range of practice skills standards. Trainees will be given full support through their training contract. They get feedback on their tasks and further training where required, we will arrange monthly feedback and welfare sessions with their supervisor
The trainee will have access to monthly refelctive practice sessions with an external facilitator

Main Responsibilities & Duties

To deliver supervised legal advice to clients, the frontline organsiations that support them and to generally support the team in our legal work
To assist in the signposting and referrals of new enquiries where legal issues and other support needs arise
To undertake research, prepare briefings and assist with CWJ’s projects
To conduct correspondence as required, attend meetings, instruct counsel and attend court as instructed by the training principle/supervising solicitor.
To attend external and/or internal training courses as appropriate
To undertake tasks and projects as allocated by a member of the management team.
To undertake a project as required by the terms and conditions of the Justice First Fellowship
To keep fully up-to-date with the relevant areas of law and practice.
To adhere to the client care standards set out in the firm’s terms of business and/or the office manual.
To assist with the preparation of costs schedules and to support work in billing of legal cases
To adhere to and follow CWJ’s Policies and Procedures including Equal Opportunities Policy.
To carry out all duties in accordance with the Legal Aid Agency contract, the Specialist Quality Mark and the Solicitors Regulation Authority.
