Host Organisation: The Speakeasy Advice Centre
I am from a small town in West Wales called Ammanford, and am a second language Welsh speaker. I went to University in Aberystwyth, and did my post grad in Cardiff Law School.
Upon graduating, I worked in a solicitors firm specializing in social welfare law and was Welfare Benefit team leader then went on to work for a charity where I was a mental health caseworker specializing in Welfare Benefits.
I worked for a year in Citizens Advice Bureau in the Caerphilly Valleys, where I was an outreach worker.
I started my training contract in May 2014 with Speakeasy Advice, and became a fellow in January 2015. At the moment, I am delivering Housing Advice and am a debt caseworker. I am soon to start my Welfare Benefits seat in July 2015.
Project – Access to justice issues from a systems thinking point of view
This will build on work the Speakeasy Advice Centre have done over the last couple of years, under funding from the Barings Foundation, so Helen will have access to brute data that we obtained over several months of a systems thinking review. We will provide her with some help for this. Advice UK, who helped us with the project, might also want to help Helen with it as well.
