Advocate (formerly known as The Bar Pro Bono Unit), the national pro bono charity of the Bar, finds free legal assistance from volunteer barristers for those who cannot afford it to make sure everyone has access to justice.
Advocate provides legal assistance in all areas of law, across all courts and tribunals in England and Wales.
Over 3,800 barristers including a third of all QC’s have committed to take on pro bono cases through Advocate.
The charity does not seek any public funding and the source of their funding is almost entirely through the Bar.
