There are 125 qualified Fellows with another 34 currently in the scheme. Almost all qualified Fellows (97%) are in roles using the law for public benefit (including in the public sector), while three quarters (75%) are using the law for social change with almost half of these working in specialist not-for-profit legal organisations.
You can hear directly from Fellows about their experience of the Fellowship in this video from our 2022 Residential, or by listening to this episode of the Reimagine Law podcast, which features Myriam Naoual, current Fellow at Family Rights Group, alongside Fellowship Manager Deborah Acquaah.
Each year we recruit and appoint Host organisations and then publish details of these organisations and job descriptions via our JFF Fellow application form which becomes available at the opening of our next Fellow recruitment round. Our Fellow recruitment round normally opens in Autumn and successful Fellows are recruited to commence work in their Host organisation the following April.
Fellows will be employed by their Host organisation who will be responsible for the recruitment, supervision and support of fellows. The wider support, training and opportunities component of the scheme are organised by The Legal Education Foundation and its partners.
Fellows have trained at 74 different host organisations across the UK’s four nations, from local law centres and firms to national charities. Below is just a sample of some of these hosts.
